Technical specifications: peculiarities of agricultural tire choice

The quality of the machinery operation directly depends on technical specifications of agricultural tires and specific features of their tread pattern. The stability and manoeuvring capability of the machinery on operating surfaces also depends on the construction of the tread pattern in many respects. The ribbed tread pattern (“runlet”) is designed for trailers: it prevents side slipping and promotes good stability. The tread pattern consisting of multiblocks and nodes is installed both on moving and driving wheels. They are easy to operate on soft ground and gently influence the soil. The tires with the directed traction pattern are applied for wheels functioning under complicated weather conditions and on various ground types. The tread depth as well as type, size, angle of slope and ground grip shape have an effect on the cleaning properties of agricultural tires and, respectively, their flotation. Therefore, when choosing agricultural tires, it is necessary to know the information on the soil type, its moisture and adhesion. For the purpose of efficient machinery operation at high ground humidity levels, full-range rubber tires with the minimum quantity of ribs on the tread are preferable.

Useful Information

It is important to know that in case of replacement of agricultural tires, the size of the new tires shall completely coincide with the size of the component ones. Radial or bias tires can be installed on one transport axle. The installation of various structures is not allowed. The maximum permitted value of the tire load shall conform to the agricultural machine capacity.
